Albert Ramirez passed away peacefully at his home in Nampa, Idaho on Friday, January 6, 2017. Albert was born in Coahuila, Mexico on April 8, 1937, to Elena and Cipriano Ramirez. In 1946, Elena and Cipriano, along with their 11 children, immigrated to Torrington, Wyoming. In 1954, the Ramirez family moved to Nampa, Idaho, where they bought a home and planted their roots.

At 10 years of age, Albert started working in the fields alongside his siblings. He was taught how to work hard and have strong family values. These are the things that laid the foundation to who Albert was and what he held important in life. In 1957, he married Alice Zavala. They were married for 40 years and had two children together, Sophia and Natalie. In 1960, he went to work for Idaho Concrete and later worked for Tri-City Meats for 19 years. Finally, he went to work for Simplot Meats until he retired.

Albert had many hobbies; including cooking, hunting, camping and fishing. He had a talent and passion for gardening and loved watching old western movies. Wherever Albert went, he always made friends by sharing his good sense of humor. On any given weekend, you would find Albert with a fishing pole in his hands at one of his many favorite fishing spots. Most of the time, it was only as far as Lake Lowell so he had enough time to make the rounds to all of his kids’ and grandkids’ houses just to stop by and say “Hello”, and more than likely drop off some fresh produce from his garden and some of the kids’ favorite snacks, or the world’s best and hottest salsa. Albert always walked in with a big smile you just couldn’t help but love. Another one of his favorite things to do was watch the Denver Broncos play football. Every game they played, you could find him sitting in his chair and watching the game. The only thing that he loved more than that was to do it with his family.

Although Albert only had two children, he also took on the role of a father to his 10 grandchildren, whom all called him “Dad”. Taking on that role was a true testament to what kind of person Albert was; a loving, kind, hardworking family man. Words cannot begin to describe how special and loved Albert was. The bond he shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will live forever through the love he taught them to have for one another.

Albert is survived by his 10 siblings; Larry, Sipriano, Jesse, Gonzie, Mary Ybarra, Sally Labato, Charlie, Ruthie Castillo, Josie Flores and Richard; his daughter Sophia, his 8 grandchildren ,17 great-grandchildren, and his dear Myrla Dupont. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his daughter, Natalie, and his grandsons, Augustine and Nicolas Hernandez. Albert will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends and all the fish will take a deep sigh of relief.

A huge “Thank You” to the staff at Nampa Cancer Center and Horizon Home Health & Hospice, especially Nurse Michelle.
