Alice Ethel Stickney was born on July 29,  1924 and passed away on May 10,  2017 at the age of 92.  She is survived by 3 sons, Galen Stickney - Long Beach, California, Alvin Stickney - Red Bluff, California and Bart Stickney – Vancouver, Washington; also 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

She was born and raised in Nampa, Idaho.  Alice attended and was a member of the Nampa Church of the Brethren.  Her attendance goes way back when she was just a little child.  I also want to add that she was one of the feistiest pacifists you would ever meet!

Alice graduated from Nampa High school in 1942.  She played on the girls’ basketball team in High school; which brings a smile when one considers that she was only 4 feet and 10 inches in height.  She married Gordon T. Stickney (who passed away September 4, 2014) on February 4, 1943.

We learned a great deal from Mom.  Alice demonstrated a fierce loyalty to her family, had great tenderness and a kitchen filled with the smells of homemade bread, butter horn rolls, sugar cookies and cakes baking.  Her hospitality was second to none.  There were a great number of college students (who attended the Neighborhood Church in Chico, California) and friends of her sons who experienced the blessings of her hospitality.

Alice was always there for her husband and children.  She was greatly loved by her children, grand children and great grandchildren.  What was Mom’s hobby?  She loved children; especially babies and had great joy in kissing their faces off!

There came a time in Alice’s life where she had to undergo a very serious and life threatening surgery (a triple bypass).  She almost died during the surgery and the doctors only gave her 5 years.  The surgery was over 30 years ago!  God, in His grace, extended Alice’s life and she was given the joyous opportunity of having more time with her husband, her 3 sons, her grand children and great grandchildren; and many others who were fortunate to have her as a friend.  Make no mistake Alice was a walking miracle!  She had her flaws, difficulties and challenges that we all experience in one way or another.  In all of her years she came to her end in this life with complete victory over all, including death, because of her faith in the living Christ.  She is presently a citizen of the kingdom of God and her life goes on!  Glory to God!  Amen!  Mom we miss you and we love you!
