Cornelius Jacob "Corny" Heck

Cornelius Jacob “Corny” Heck, 73, of Nampa was welcomed home in the early hours of Sunday, February 19, 2017 to join his Heavenly Father.  Cornelius was born on October 12, 1943 in Dickinson, North Dakota to Frank Louis Heck and Juliana Eleanor Heck.  Cornelius was the 4th of 12 siblings.  In 1957, the family moved to Nampa, Idaho and In 1960 Cornelius graduated from Nampa High School.  In 1964, he met the love of his life, Carol V Walker (Heck) and married the following year. From this union, they had two daughters Carol and Connie “his girls”. Cornelius began his career with the J.R. Simplot Company in Caldwell, Idaho in 1965 and retired in 2010 after 45 years of service. 

Daddy was an avid New York Giants fan and enjoyed watching all sports with a good sandwich.  Grandpa was very involved with his grandchildren and took pride in attending their activities.  In retirement, dad enjoyed trying new restaurants and having coffee with his coffee group. He liked to go camping, fishing and hunting with his family and always enjoyed a good laugh with family and friends.  Papa Corny was a simple and colorful man, who made us laugh and brought a smile to our faces, with his words that we will forever miss.

Cornelius is survived by his two daughters, Carol Mitchell (Mitch) and Connie Heckathorn (Robert); his adopted son Michael Fox (Amber); grandson Nathaniel Mitchell; adopted grandchildren Ben, Sherry, Ashley, Tyler and Kaylei; five brothers Fred, Francis, Blaise, Kurt and Myron; and three sisters Mary, Julie and Grace; and several nieces and nephews.

Cornelius was preceded in death by his parents Frank & Juliana Heck; three brothers Ted, Ed and Cletus; former wife Carol; and grandson Shawn Heckathorn.

Recitation of the Rosary and viewing will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 at the St Paul’s Catholic Church, Nampa Burial will follow in the Mount Cavalry Cemetery, Nampa. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com
