Crawford joined his four sons; Joseph Lee, Crawford Lee Jr., Leslie (Jughead), and John (Danny) in heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 3, 2016. He spent his last days at home with his wife, children and grandchildren. Crawford Lee Newman Sr. was born August 13, 1933, in Gillsburg, Mississippi to Hettie Lou and Bilbo Newman. He was the oldest of 9 children from Ponchatoula, Louisiana. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio Texas. He served in Korea under the 34th Bomb SQ Thunderbirds from 1952-1954. Beginning with a pin-pal relationship, this Louisiana man married his Mississippi woman, Mae Lafayette Brady on August 27, 1954. They lived in Indiana and Wyoming before making Natchez, Mississippi their home while raising their ten children. Crawford was a jack of all trades, but found his calling as an operating engineer.  In 1985, the family moved to Nampa, Idaho and he became a long haul truck driver.  Everything he did was a family affair.  He was involved in girl scouts, boy scouts, 4-H, sports, and church activities with his children. The family enjoyed camping trips, holidays, and family events, which were always so important.

Crawford is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Mae. His seven children: Cheryl (Billy) Renfrow  of Natchez, Ms; Lisa (Joe) Berrett of Melba, Id; Julie (Troy) Skovgard of Kuna Id; James (Jenna) Newman of Kuna, Id; Paul (Cari) Newman of Nampa, Id; Paula (Wesley) Flaherty of Middleton, Id; and Bo (Amber) Newman of Caldwell, Id. His fifteen grandchildren: Brandon (Amanda) Renfrow; Jessica (Chris) Parton; Joshua and Alisha Newman; Anna (Ty) Billings; Newman (Janessa), Jerod, and Georgia Berrett; Simon (Anne), Heather, and Wyatt Skovgard; Kaylee and Kacie Newman and Hailey McKee; and Courtney and Curtis Flaherty. His fifteen great grandchildren Logan, Wesley, and Dalin Newman; Brooklyn, Cheyenne, and Bradley Renfrow; Tyler and Kendra Renfrow-McDonald; Nathan and Levi Parton; Kayden and Tyson Billings; Jackson and Aryn Williams; and Troy Thomas Skovgard. His sister Brenda DeSaix of Nampa, Idaho; his brothers Charles (Dot) Newman of Holden Louisiana, Earl (Debra) Newman of Glouster Mississippi, James (Connie) Newman of Hammond Louisiana, Stanley Timberlake of Nampa Idaho and daughter-in-laws ShanDel Lockyer of Crane, Oregon and Sheila Newman-King of Boise, Id.

He is preceded in death by his four sons, his parents, his brother Bilbo Jr.; his three sisters, Mary Grace, Willie Mae, and Pamela Lue.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016, at New Hope Baptist Church in Nampa, Id. at 10:00 am for visitation and 11:00 am for services. Interment will be held at Cranfield Baptist Church in Roxie, Mississippi February 15, 2016 visitation will be at 10:00 am with the service at 12:00 pm followed by burial. The family would like to give special thanks to the Life Care Center of Boise for the wonderful care provided; especially Tom, Cheryl, Sarah, Tamera and Michelle. Thanks to Jeff and Sherry from Legacy Hospice for enriching his last days at home. Most of all we would like to thank Cathy Fischer, Medical Case Manger for 30 years of dedication to our family.
