Frieda D. (Kuhlman) Hackney, 98, of Nampa passed away peacefully at home on August 20, 2015. She is the daughter of Ernst and Nora Kuhlman born in the township of Ionia, Kansas December 7, 1916. She went to a one room country school and graduated high school in Mankato, Kansas followed by a year of training as a nurse. She lived and worked on the family farm with her many sisters and brothers. In 1937 they sold the family farm and moved to Idaho in a Ford pickup truck and rail road car. Once in Idaho Frieda did many odd jobs including helping her brother Wayne harvest grain, drive the tractor and tasseling corn on the family farm. She met and married the love of her life, Lee B. Hackney on March 5, 1942. After they married Lee served in the Army during World War II and Frieda worked in the McDonald-Douglas aircraft plant in Long Beach, California as “Rosie the Riveter”. After the war Frieda and Lee moved to Nampa ID where they built their home and had two sons Douglas and Stephen Hackney. Frieda loved the outdoors and enjoyed many trips to their cabin on Clear Creek near Idaho City. Frieda was a woman of many talents including a wonderful seamstress, chef, homemaker, gardener just to name a few. Frieda was a member of the Eagles and the Rebecca’s Lodge. She also attended Nampa First Christian Church. Frieda was preceded in death by her Husband Lee, Sisters Anita, Emma, Velma, Elda, Leona, and Brothers Marion, and Wayne. She is survived by her sons Douglas and Stephen, grandsons Paul and Bruce and great grandson Cory. The last three years of her life were spent at Sunnyridge retirement center before an injury that brought her home to spend her last hours with family. Frieda was a caring gentle soul that will never be forgotten and always remembered. She always had a warm beautiful smile that will last in our memories forever. Family would like to thank Journeys hospice for their help and support. The family will greet friends and family at a viewing at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M.
