Genevieve Marie James

Genevieve was born in 1932 in Northgate, North Dakota. She was the first born of six children of Sever Esse and Anna Lillian Esse.  As the other five children arrived, Genevieve’s responsibilities grew as she did.  She was a very nurturing person who always worked very hard.  She lived in Canada a few years on a farm and then moved to Washington State.
She graduated from high school in Spokane, Washington and shortly after started working for the Potlatch Corporation using her secretarial skills.
She soon met her husband to be, Ralph, who lived across the street from her.  They were married September 28, 1952 and lived happily together for over fifty three years.
She was an amazing wife, homemaker, mother and the best cook in the world.  After living in California for over twenty years the family moved to Idaho in 1980.  She worked 18 years for the Magistrate Court in Weiser, Idaho before retiring.  She enjoyed family life, get together’s, church pot lucks and family gatherings for the holidays.
She started developing her cake decorating skills and made cakes for family and friends.  She made wedding cakes for her daughters, graduation cakes, anniversary cakes, and birthday cakes for grandchildren, even some of her great-grandchildren.  Her talent was amazing not to mention simply beautiful.
She was involved in Weiser helping and volunteering for “Love, Inc.”, which helps people in need.  It brought her a lot of joy! She was a pianist for her church in San Fernando, Ca  for many years and also in Emmett and Weiser, Id.
She was a beautiful example of what a wife and mother should be.  She enjoyed sewing for her children, making doll clothes, quilting and patchwork sewing.
Her life was full spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
After retirement, she and her husband enjoyed a few years traveling around the country “motor homing”; seeing family and friends while enjoying new sites.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Ralph.
She is survived by her three brothers and two sisters; Tom Esse and his wife Shirley from Spokane, WA; Carolyn Nichols and her husband Richard of Phoenix, AZ and Spokane WA; Wyman Esse of Yucca Valley, CA; Wanda Erickson of Desert Hot Springs, CA and Leonard Esse and wife Vivian of San Fernando, CA.
Her children; Annette Butler and husband Daniel of Nampa, ID; April James of Weiser, ID; Steve James and wife Carol of Lancaster, CA and Julie Gardner and husband Scott of Graham, WA. Seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
