Helen Cleo Mattox, 93, of Nampa, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at a Nampa care facility. Helen was born on April 2, 1924 in Parma, Idaho to Herbert and Letha Farley. She spent her early years in Parma and attended Ten Davis School. When the family moved to Caldwell, Idaho she continued her education at Washington Elementary and Caldwell High School.

Helen married Elwood Mattox on June 11, 1942. They raised their two children in the Marsing, Caldwell, Nampa, and northern Idaho areas.

She was employed by Albertson Food Stores as a meat cutter for a short time and then at Home Federal Savings and Loan from which she retired after 24 years.

As a woman of many interests, Helen enjoyed playing the organ, sewing, creating stained glass art, making beautiful porcelain dolls, boating, fishing, water skiing, snowmobiling, woodworking, and playing cards & board games. She even tried skydiving at age 71. She volunteered at the Nampa Civic Center for many years as an usher.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents Herb and Letha Farley, husband Elwood, three sisters, Jean Mason, Ethel Dana, and Vivian Sorenson, her daughter Janet “Jimmie” Mabe, and grandson Sean Mabe.

She is survived by her son Ron and daughter-in-law Glenda, her granddaughter Garianne Mabe, brother “Bud” Herbert Farley and sister-in-law Leila, sister Joan Patrick, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel where an online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com
