James Patrick "Jim" Kelly, Jr.

James Patrick Kelly Jr “Jim” was born a premie on June 20, 1957 in Anchorage, Alaska to Jim & Sally Kelly. He was the second oldest child in the family. Jim had a very big family that loved him dearly. Jim leaves behind his parents James & Sally Kelly, his siblings & their families, Jeff Kelly (Catherine), Mike Kelly (Genevieve), Tim Kelly (Serena), Kathy Potter (Randy), Matt Kelly (Karen), and John Kelly (Michele). He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, an uncle and cousins. "Jim also loved Tasha, Joshua, and Chantelle with his whole heart."  He was preceded in death by both his maternal & paternal grandparents, an uncle, and a sister-in-law. 

Jim was a very loving and happy little boy-always smiling his beautiful smile.  He was very giving to others and had a caring heart, once giving his favorite toy to one of his brothers for his birthday. He was also always willing to stand up to anyone to protect his siblings. Jim graduated from Melba High School in 1975 and joined the Navy. He went through Navy Seal training, was proud of his Navy service and talked of the places he was able to go. Jim spent several years living in Germany after getting out of the Navy. He served as Special Police and found great happiness in his work. While in Germany Jim attended college and traveled extensively. He often talked of the places he had seen. When Jim came back to Idaho to live he began doing police work. He worked as a police officer for the Canyon County Sheriff's Department for many years and as a detective for a few years. He looked very sharp as a detective, always dressed in slacks, a dress shirt, & a tie. He was very proud of himself! In the last several years Jim spent his time working and going fishing with his dogs whenever he had the chance. His dogs meant the world to him. He loved them and they loved him back, and were his faithful companions. Jim was most happy when he was spending time with them fishing at the river. Jim liked to spend time alone, but knew that he had a great big family that loved him so much and would do anything for him. Through his illness he was able to feel the love of his parents and siblings and deepen the bond between them. Jim had a deep faith in the Lord and knew with certainty that he would enjoy eternal life. He had complete faith in God throughout his illness and that faith never wavered. Jim never complained about what he was going through, and always had a smile for anyone who visited him. His family is grieving deeply, but happy in the hope of being reunited with him again one day.  We all love you dearly Jim!
