Jimmie Leon Shrum

Jim L. Shrum age 72, of Nampa, Idaho passed away Thursday, July 21 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Meridian surrounded by his family.

He was born December 28, 1943 in Cassville, Missouri, the son of Hazel (Timmons) and Leon Shrum. The family moved to Idaho when he was a young child. On October 29, 1965 he was united in marriage to Marjorie Marschman. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary only last year.

Jim graduated from Kuna High School in 1963. After graduation he worked for Meridian Wood Products until he was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War. Upon his return he continued to work for Meridian wood products for a total of 14 years before moving on to Coors Distributing where he retired in 2008 after 27 years.

Through the years Jim enjoyed family camping, fishing, horseback riding, making macramé chairs, riding motorcycles, casinos, even a great vacation to Hawaii, later moving on to many wonderful RV trips. Jim was an avid gardener and never liked to miss his weekly poker game. 

Jim is survived by his wife Marge Shrum of Nampa, his sister Ruth, his red poodle Penny, and his wife’s sisters Ardell Doughty and Carol Sloan (Rick). He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Leon Shrum, and brothers, Gary Shrum and Jack Shrum.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of his life at 3:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Tim Doughty at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. 

A private burial will be held at a later date.
