Michael Corson Obituary

After a long, hard battle with cancer, Michael “Mike” Brent Corson died peacefully in his wife Kristy’s arms surrounded by his family in his home on February 4th, 2018 in Boise, Idaho at the age of 54.

Mike was born on October 16, 1963 in Pocatello, Idaho to Roy and Margene Corson. He attended Teamsters truck-driving school in Weiser, Idaho where he graduated in 1981. Throughout his career, he drove rock truck for Stibnite Mine, belly dump for Bird Graff and Western Construction, tanker for Meadow Gold, and various other truck-driving jobs. He met Kristy Joy on June 22, 1985 at Horse Thief Reservoir where it was said he told his colleagues he had just met his wife. On July 19, 1986, he married the love of his life in Nampa, Idaho and honeymooned in Hawaii, settling in Nampa to start their family. The couple soon welcomed three children into their home; Tory J. Corson, Joshua M. Corson, and Jessica J. Corson. His children remember him as a loving, fun, and dedicated father who encouraged them to pursue their education and learn to be independent and mechanically inclined.  Kristy said he was an incredible husband, father and son who is loved and greatly missed.

Mike was accomplished at building motorcycles/engines and often helped others with similar pursuits. He was a natural competitor and in his free time, was found racing horses, motorcycles, and cars and watching NASCAR in his later years. Heavily influenced by his Grandpa Joe who owned a construction company, Mike learned at a young age how to operate heavy machinery. He was an individual who loved animals and adventure, was passionate about his children, and enjoyed cooking family meals. He was always known to be a kid at heart and never met a child who didn’t adore him. Mike, Kristy, and his children were often found vacationing, having visited over 40 states, including Hawaii and Alaska, and Mexico and Canada. In 2011, the couple celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on an Alaskan Cruise and recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in Lincoln City, Oregon. They enjoyed their usual hike at Three Capes Route and food at Tillamook.

Mike is survived by his wife, Kristy, Boise, ID; children, Tory (Lacy) Corson, Boise, ID, Josh (Katherine) Corson, Boise, ID, and Jessica Corson, Nampa, ID; parents, Roy Corson, Boise, ID, Margene Carlsen, Pocatello, ID, and step-mother Shannon Corson, Mesa AZ; siblings, step-siblings, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
