Raymond Allen Darr, 72, of Nampa, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016 at a Boise VA care facility. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Kurt and Mollie Darr on December 16, 1943. He was the middle child of four: older brother Scott, younger sister, Janice and baby Kurt. As children, they created fond memories together by playing in the peat bogs, riding bicycles and spending countless hours at the Claredon Hills Swimming Pool.

Ray was humble when it came to his military career in the Army. He proudly served in the 11th Armor Calvary B Troop in the Vietnam War. He was awarded two Purple Hearts for his bravery to his brethren in arms. Upon returning from his tours, he lived in many parts of the country with a wide variety of jobs but one thing stayed consistent; his dedication to serving others in need. He regularly provided services to the elders of his community wherever he lived. Another heartwarming quality was that Ray always was looking for that next opportunity to lift another's spirits... especially if it meant he could tell a joke or to tease. You could count on Ray for a laugh and a smile.

In 2001, Ray met the love of his life, Jean Kennedy Davenport. She was his cornerstone and together, they made fourteen years worth of wonderful memories. He helped Jean guide her two handsome sons Jayson and Charles throughout that time and was made a very proud grandpa several times over and he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. He loved fishing, playing cards, collecting train memorabilia, caring for his flowers especially his iris and his weekly breakfasts with his brother, Scott. His legacy will be carried on through his skills as a master craftsman in the area of woodworking. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A burial service with military honors will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise.
