Richard Orville "Dick" Brown

Richard Orville Brown passed away in Caldwell, Idaho on August 26, 2017 at the age of 76.

Dick was born on December 14, 1940 in Boise, Idaho. He was the only child of Miriam and Orville Brown. Dick moved with his parents to a farm in Kuna in 1942. He attended the old Happy Valley country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Kuna High School in 1959.

He began his love of cars in high school. He started working at the Stinker gas station as a teenager to pay for the brand new 1959 Chevy he purchased as a senior. He “Cruised” the drive-in loop in Nampa for years showing off his hot car, and later became a classic car enthusiast.

Dick married his wife Shirley in 1962 and moved to Boise, where he began his career with Boise Water Corporation. It later became United Water where he worked for 35 years and retired in 2003.

Dick and Shirley returned with their daughters, Shawna and Lisa, to the family farm in Kuna in 1976 where they built their home. Their son, Dustin was born 3 years later. There, he and his family raised cattle, pigs, chickens, ducks, horses and whatever the kids wanted a hand at raising. Dick and Shirley have remained there enjoying retirement until his illness intervened. His greatest peace was sitting in the back yard under the tree with miles of open space and the beautiful view before him.

He is survived by his wife Shirley; his daughters, Shawna (David) Pease and Lisa Brokaw; his son, Dustin Brown; grandchildren, Brittany Brokaw, Braeden Chacartegui and Raef Chacartegui.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Miriam Brown.

The family would like to thank the staff from Springridge Assisted Living and First Choice Hospice for the care and support in our husband, father and grandfather’s last days.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Dick’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. Burial will follow in the Kuna Cemetery. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com
