Robert Dale Kurz

Bobby Miller was born on April 3, 1950 to Les and Betty (Kurz) Miller at Mercy Hospital in Nampa.  While still an infant, Bob’s mother, Betty, was killed in an auto accident and Bob was subsequently adopted by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Mary Alice Kurz.  He joined the family of three girls, Margaret, Martha, and Ruth, and his sister, Janet, was born three years after him.  They were reared on a small family farm north of Nampa where Bob attended schools and graduated in 1968 from Nampa High School.

 After graduation, Bob worked for Boise Cascade for many years, which was located near the family home.  Later Bob bought his own home and began working at Mercy Hospital.  He made many friends there, many of whom shared his passion for BSU football.  Some of these folks were with him as he traveled to WA, AZ, and HI for games.

Bob attended the Nampa Bible Church until it closed and was baptized on October 11, 2009--one of his most triumphant experiences!

Bob had physical challenges his entire life, but when asked how he was doing his standard response was “Oh, not too bad!”  Bob didn’t expect much of life—just good friends and family, a good meal, and for the BSU Broncos to win! 

When Bob was able to remodel his home he decorated it in BSU colors and themes—even the shower was royal blue and orange!    Bob said his heart was still beating this past year, but that it had been broken twice—both times when BSU lost their games!

Complications of diabetes proved too much for Bob’s tired body and he succumbed on March 15 at the former Mercy Hospital after a valiant effort to overcome the many physical challenges he always seemed to face.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Les & Betty Miller, Albert & Mary Alice Kurz,  and sisters, Margaret Critcher and Janet Schrag.  He is survived by sisters, Martha Williamson and Ruth (Marvie) Thomas, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Saturday, March 25 at 11:00 am at the Franklin Community Church,  8499 Hwy 20-26, Nampa ID  83687.  A private family interment will precede the service.
