William C. Dyas 83, of Melba passed away, Wednesday August 30, 2017 with his family at his bedside. Graveside services will be held Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Melba Cemetery at 11:00 A.M.

Bill was born July 6, 1934 in Barber, Idaho, to Gordon and Audrey (Caywood) Dyas. He was raised in the Nampa area and later moved to Vale, Oregon as a young man. In the mid-50s Dad was called into the service working in the National Guard. During this time, a friend of dads talked him into going on a blind date. He ended up marrying his blind date, Darlene who was the love of his life.

During his lifetime dad farmed, milked cows, raised pigs and chickens, along with his 3 children Doris, Lora, and Bill, in the Greenleaf area. They later moved to Melba Idaho to farm at White Sage by Dry Lake. With the selling of the farm Dad contracted with the Melba School District to manage the school transportation system.

Along with farming, bussing, and raising his children Dad got into stock car racing with a dear friend at Meridian Speedway. He later left stock cars and got into tractor pulling where he did quite a bit of traveling. He also enjoyed the fact that his grandsons were with him at a lot of the pulls. His grandsons named the puller “Grandpas Toy”.

In December of 1999, he retired from the Melba School District but soon came back because he missed all of the children. He has watched 4 generations of Melba school children grow up. Taking many a football, basketball, baseball, FFA, FHA, and many other activities. He enjoyed all of it. One of his special memories was taking the 2002-2003 football to the state championship. It was such an honor for him when the boys gave him the state championship ring.

He loved Melba’s fourth of July, it was always a time for the family to get together. This fourth he had all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren around him. This was a special time for him.

He is survived by his 3 children, Doris (Drake) Roberts of Melba, Lora Dyas of Nampa, William Dyas of Melba; his grandchildren Adam, Ryan, Curtis, Chad, Cody, Tyler, Emily, Abigail, William W. (Billy); along with 8 great grandchildren and 5 siblings.

The family would like to thank a special friend to Dad, Eric Clark and First Choice Hospice for all their care for Dad. He enjoyed his time with each and every one of you.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life Darlene (Pritchett) Dyas and by his parents and many siblings.
