Shaun Dennis Read came blazing into this world November 15, 1988 in Boise, Idaho. God called our son home on June 24, 2012. His parents Dennis and Michelle were overjoyed to have a son. As soon as Shaun could hold a fishing pole he was fishing alongside his parents or tagging along on some adventure in the mountains. One of his favorite things to do would be exploring in our beloved Owyhee Mountains. He loved our annual elk hunt in October as it was a fun time to be with family and pursue our passion. Shaun loved history and would always tell his parents “I wish I had lived in the old west”, he also loved trucks; from the time he could talk in full sentences he would be telling his mom “that is a ford” or “that is a Chevy” and what year of the truck by the grill or head light shape. He would pester his mom when he was just a little guy, “Hey Mom, stop at this house! They have an old Chevy truck back there let’s see if he will sell it” and I would say no Shaun, I am not stopping at some random guy’s house to buy his truck. Every remote control truck he had was modified. Some people have pets, Shaun had trucks. He always had a project going that is something he loved.
He attended elementary school at Park Ridge and Greenhurst elementary in Nampa until spring of 2000 when the family moved to Melba Idaho. Shaun graduated from Melba High School in May 2007. He worked for US Forest Service as a wild land fire fighter for 3 seasons. He made many friends whom were very significant in his life and he loved dearly. He hated being away from home and at the time of his death was farming in the Melba area.
Shaun is survived by his parents Dennis and Michelle Read of Melba, Id. His sisters Amber Wood (Tim) of Boise, Andrea Read of Boise, and Cynthia Read of Melba; Grandfather Dennis L. Read (Barbara) of Bliss, Idaho; Grandfather Francis Cleverley of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 18 Aunts and Uncles and 24 cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Kathryn Ballard, Grandmother Carol Cleverley, Grandfather Lyndon Anderson and Cousin Justin Eli Ponjevic.
Shaun loved his family, loved his friends and he loved being alive, everything he did was in pursuit of an adventure; Shaun never had a dull moment. He loved hunting and being in the mountains. He had a big dynamic personality that drew people to him and a smile and warmth that lit up the room. We will always remember the boy with the perpetual smile, the boy with a skip in his step, the boy who grew into a strong, handsome, caring man with more luscious hair than most ladies. Such greatness was hard to confine to his 6’4” frame. Shaun will be greatly missed. He is loved by many.
Services are being held at Melba High School on Saturday, June 30, 2012. Viewing is from 9am to 10 am followed by services at 11 am. He will be laid to rest in the Melba Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.

It is with heavy heart that we say good-bye to Shaun. He was a very special young man; one of excellence and one of our son, Allie''s, best friends. It was always a joy to see him come through our door. Our prayers are with your family at this time and know that Shaun may not be of this world, but will always be remembered with great fondness. Peace be with you and God bless.

Shaun, you were such a sweet person and loving brother. It was obvious the love you had for your family and that they had for you, just by the way your sisters talked about you. They admired you so much and were so thankful to have an older brother who cared for them like you did. You definitely made an impact on all of the lives of those around you and brought them so much joy and happiness. Growing up as a friend of your sister, and a student in the same school as you, I always thought of you as such an individual. You were one in your own and didn''t care what anybody else thought, I loved that about you, as I know many others admired that trait in you as well. Your contagious smile and fun-loving personality will be so greatly missed by your family, friends, and those of the community.
To the Read family:
You are all in my thoughts, prayers, and heart. There are no words to express my sorrows. You raised an incredible son, brother, and friend, that is something to be proud of. Continue to put your trust in God and know that his unconditional love and abundant support is always there; as is the same with those around you.
Love you all very much.

As I read Shaun''s obituary in the local paper today I sensed overwhelming love being poured forth to describe a fully lived, although short, life on this earth. God bless all who have been left behind to process this. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,
Shirley and Larry Kellogg

Dennis and Michelle,
I was extremely sad to hear of Shaun's passing. Having two boys, I can't comprehend what it would be like to lose one.
As you know, I didn't spend much time with Shaun but in the few times that I met him, I concluded that like his parents, he was a special human being.
You and Shaun are in my prayers.
Dennis, I recently lost my cell phone which had everyone's phone numbers in it. I would have preferred to have given you a call.
If there is anything I can do, let me know.
Joe

Dennis, Michelle, Andrea, Amber and Cindy,
Loss is not fair and I am praying you find peace and much love in the days, months, years to come. I didn't know Shaun well, but when time passes and you are ready, I would love to hear the wonderful stories you have to share. Know that we are all reaching out to you. Know his love is with you always. Know that he mattered in life and will continue to matter beyond. Comfort to all of you. May the Lord be gentle with you.

Denny and Family:
I find it hard to find the words to say to express my sorrow for you and your family. Your son looked alot like you and your brother when you were younger. I bet he was a handful of joy for you and your wife. I know it is hard to loose someone so close and there are no words to ease the pain, the only thing that I may try and express is that he is without pain and will have a smile in your heats forever. He will be with you all forever. Take care and God Bless
