I am heartbroken by this tragic loss. Chris Steele, Nick's Uncle is a great friend of mine and showed me pics of Nick when he was around my son's age. Than I saw his pic as a proud and honorable, courageous Soldier and my heart went flat. My brother and many of my friends serve and I have some friends who came back with life-long injuries. Their sacrifice is hard for us civilians to truly appreciate sometimes. Rather than some celebrity or sports figure, my hero's and role models are these brave men & women. My sincere condolences go out to his entire family and friends who have lost this wonderful young man.

I pray God grants you and your family peace during this most difficult time!
ISAIAH 43:1-3 NKJ
1 . . ."Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.
2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.
3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;

Tony, I am so sorry for your loss. While I know there are no words to express my sympathy or to ease your pain. I hope this one saying can bring a little light. Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather, openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are always with us.

I was Nick''''s fourth grade teacher at Collier Elementary School in Tucson, Arizona. I was shocked to see his obituary in our paper today. Nick was always a good person with fine qualities. No words can assuage your grief. Please know Nick and you are in my prayers.

I never knew your Nick, but I read the obit in the NWFlorida Daily News today and my heart went out to his family. My son was wounded in Gulf War I and he was never the same when he came home. So, I can relate to your situation and I grieve with you. My son shot himself two years ago because of the mental and physical misery he was enduring. I know Nick was a wonderful young man and is dearly missed. May God be so ever present during this time of bereavement. Thank you for sharing him with the world and for his service and sacrifice for his country. Tom Jackley, Valparaiso, Florida

We were so saddened by the heartbreaking news about Nick. I was one of the teachers at Tucson Accelerated High School where he attended high school. It was a blessing to have known Nick. I am currently principal at the school and would like to extend our prayers and thoughts to his entire family on behalf of our school. He was a great addition to our school and will never be forgotten.
