Harry Oliver Packwood, (81), of Payette, Idaho, passed away on April 4th, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.
Harry Packwood was born to John and Ida Packwood on January 2, 1943, in Adrian, Oregon. He grew up on a ranch and enjoyed working on the farm as well as tending to the livestock. He was an avid member of FFA while in High School. One of his most proud moments was in 1961 where he claimed first prize with his grand champion Steer at the Fair in Ontario, Oregon. Also in the Fall of 1961, he met the love of his life LaRue Kay Langley. They dated through her Junior and Senior Year of High School where she was attending Payette High School. He was also attending Boise Junior College at the same time and graduated in 1963. That same year they were married on the 29th of May 1963. Together they had four sons, Harry Franklin, Larry Oliver, Terry Samuel and Garry Edward Packwood.
The first years of their marriage he had several different jobs working in a garage as a Mechanic, Tire Shop and the Sugar Factory in Nyssa, Oregon. In 1970 he found his calling going to work at the Idaho State School and Hospital in the Maintenance Department. He worked there for 32 years and retired in May of 2002.After retiring, he and his wife worked 17 seasons as Campground Hosts in the Payette and Boise National Forests. They loved spending as much time as possible in the Mountains of Idaho.
Harry is survived by his wife LaRue Kay Packwood and all four boys Harry (Bangie) of Payette, Larry (Marge) of Nampa, Terry (LaWanda) of Kuna and Garry (Donna) of Rice Lake, WI. They also have 13 Grandkids and 21 Great Grandkids
Harry was predeceased by his parents John and Ida Packwood as well as his only brother Jimmy Packwood.
Harry’s family will hold a funeral on April 12, 2024, in Nampa, Idaho at 2:00 p.m. at The First Christian Church of Nampa. 619 12th Avenue s, Nampa, ID 83651.
