Nancy McAfee Obituary

Surrounded by her two daughters and seven grandchildren, Nancy Mae McAfee left this earth and gained her angel wings in the early morning hours of March 29, 2024, after a short illness.

Nancy Mae was born on September 29, 1937 in St. Paul, Minnesota and was the daughter of Thomas and Marie Capaul. She was the youngest of three girls, her older sisters Elaine and Juanita were cherished by their little sister. When the girls were in elementary school, the family made their way to Mountain Home, Idaho. It was in Mountain Home, that Nancy graduated high school & also found the love of her life, Paul Jerome McAfee. Paul and Nancy married on December 3rd, 1955. In 1956, the couple welcomed their first born daughter Anntoinette Marie and then two years later their baby, Christine Denean.

Nancy was a devoted mother & her two daughters hung the moon and stars in her eyes. There was nothing more in the world she loved than her two girls.

Nancy worked for Intermountain Gas Company for most of her professional career and held several key roles. She was a fierce and dominate female career woman, working mainly in a man’s world and mentored several young females over the years. After retirement, Nancy spent several years at home and then decided to go back to work. This time around, Nancy went a whole different route and became a special needs aide in the Boise School District for 10 years. Nancy loved the children she worked with and they all made such an imprint on her heart.

Nancy and Paul’s number one love came in the form of being grandparents. There was nothing on this earth that made her more proud than her “seven”. Nancy and Paul never missed a baseball, basketball, football, softball, volleyball, recital or any event of their grandchildren. Her grandchildren were truly the joy of her life and it radiated off of her. She was a proud fan of the Bishop Kelly Knights & Mountain Home Tigers and could be found cheering loud from the stands. Paul and Nancy were BSU football season ticket holders for over 50 years & some of her best memories were tailgating and cheering on her Broncos.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Thomas & Marie Capaul. Her son in laws; Michael Reynolds and Tim McCormick and her beloved husband of 64 years, Paul.

She is survived by her two daughters Anntoinette (Reynolds) & Christy (McCormick); Her two sisters, Elaine Countryman and Juanita Lucchetti; Her seven grandchildren, Derek, Desirae (Tim) Nickolas, Tyler, Kelsey (Scott), Danielle (Nick) and Natalee (Jed); Her eight greats, Kobe, Caden, Khloee, Kynlee, Kenadee, Benjamin, Tatum & Codi; and her beloved dog, Zoey.

Our family would like to express our deepest thanks to Grandma’s caregiver Lovey, who grandma adored.

The void we feel in our hearts is immense, but the memories and lessons we have will last forever. We will love you for infinity, Grams.

A private family service was held.
