Benny Rasey Obituary

Benny Wayne Rasey was born on August 14, 1925 in Harrison, Arkansas to Benjamin and Maggie Rowe Rasey. At the age of six, his parents and his two sisters, Sue and Claribelle (who preceded him in death) moved to Harrison, Arkansas to live at the Rasey Homestead. He went to school in Bergman, Arkansas; walking 3 miles to catch a bus. When he wasn’t in school, he rode his horse along with his dog all over the hills. At the age of nine he begged for a shotgun, so his father bought him a 12-gauge shotgun and he became an excellent marksman.

In 1944 he married Beatrice Fox. Shortly after they married, he joined the Marines, serving in the Pacific as a Proud Marine in World War II. When his service was complete, he came home to his wife and baby daughter who had moved to Yakima, Washington. They had five children and an adopted daughter.

He became a television and radio technician, owning his own sales and service store for the next 25 years. After selling the business, he worked for a large scrap yard in Tacoma, Washington being the only electrician.

He was an avid flyer, owning his own plane. He served in the Search and Rescue Service. While searching for a lost plane, a down draft put him in a side of a Mountain. The Lord was with him as he walked away with only a large cut on his head.

Upon retirement, he and Bea move into a 36 foot 5th wheel, traveling to Yuma, Arizona in Winter and Washington in Summer. Bea passed away in December of 2007.

He met Maxine Harman on E-Harmony and they married in 2008. He then moved to Idaho where they have lived for 11 years. He and Maxine joined Grace Notes, and they enjoyed traveling, spending their winters in Yuma, Arizona and going on cruises.

He made may friends and was an amazing, faithful and Godly man.

He moved from Earth to Heaven between 9:00 and 9:30 P.M. on June 18, 2019 from his residence in Nampa after a full active day.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bea and a son David.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine; a daughter Betty (Roger) Wilson , and daughter Jackie (John) Brown; a son Gary Rasey and son Dennis (Martha) Rasey; a daughter in law, Lou Anne; a step son, Paul (Cheryl) Harman, step son, Dan (Linette) Harman, step daughter Gina (Tim) Davison, step daughter Lynda Patterson; many grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and great great grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 28, 2019 at Gethsemane Cemetery in Federal Way, Washington. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com
