Carol Nicholson, 89 of Nampa Idaho, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 13, 2018.
Carol was born in Nampa, Idaho on July 30, 1928 to Albert and Irene Schey. She had one brother Wendell and one sister Patricia.
Carol attended elementary school in Nampa. Her family moved to Boise when her mother married William Roberts. She met the love of her life John Nicholson while he was stationed at Gowen Field. Carol graduated from Boise High in 1946. After graduation she moved to Philadelphia where she and John were married. They remained there for 13 years, during that time Carol worked as an operator for Pennsylvania Telephone Company. John and Carol moved back to Idaho in 1960 where they welcomed 2 daughters into their lives; Linda and Pam.
Carol continued her career with Mountain Bell Telephone Company and retired in 1982 as a manager after 31 years of service. She was a 50 year member of Eastern Star and a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church. After retirement Carol volunteered time working as an advocate for abused children. John and Carol were able to travel throughout the United States visiting relatives.
Carol is survived by daughters Linda (David) Skriba of Wisconsin and Pam (Wayne) Hamilton of Nampa; 4 grandchildren, Tara (Erik) Person, Shawnisti (Blake) Stansell, Danielle (Tyrel) Poulton-Rouse and Josh Hamilton; 3 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, John Nicholson; her parents; a brother and a sister.
A special thanks goes to cousin Arlene Baune for all of her love, support and afternoon outings with Carol. The Nicholson family would also like to thank Saint Alphonsus Hospice and Grace Assisted Living for their compassion and loving care during her final days.
There will be a private family celebration of life held at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Idaho Youth Ranch, at www.youthranch.org
