Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Pace of Nampa went Home with God on September 5.
Betty Jane was born November 8, 1918, in Newton KS, the daughter of Herman and Laura Jane Wolf, and grew up on the family farm in Arizona. She attended Pasadena Academy where she was student body president and salutatorian, and graduated magna cum laude from Pasadena Nazarene College with a degree in Music in 1942, where she was president of honor society and elected to Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges.
Betty married Marvin Jackson Pace on June 29, 1942, in La Palma AZ, and ministered with him in Nazarene churches across five states, before moving to Nampa in 1961 so their four children could attend Northwest Nazarene College.
In 1961, Betty began her insurance career with Grange Mutual Life Insurance Company (now United Heritage Insurance), earning designation as Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) and Life Office Management Associate (LOMA), and retiring as Claims Manager in 1982
She often hosted NNC students to Sunday dinners and made room for them to stay with the family while attending NNC. She played and taught piano, and as an accomplished seamstress, made wedding dresses for family and friends, and wove her loving touch into blankets, quilts and afghans for children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In retirement, she cared for grandchildren and taught them many lessons of life, as they energized hers. She volunteered sewing and quilting with Hands of Hope and Crafty Ladies group, and enjoyed needlework, crossword puzzles, attending Bible study and Lakeview Church, and winning weekly Scrabble games. The last of her Wolf family generation, she remains the light in her family’s life for generations to follow.
She was predeceased by Marvin, September 17, 2003, and great granddaughter Adelaide Katherine Minor, January 11, 2011. She is survived by daughter Elizabeth Janet (Robert) Minor of Nampa, and sons Marvin Jackson Jr. (Virginia) of Bloomington IL, Stephen of Nampa, and Timothy of Boise; granddaughters Denise (Tom Chlipala) Pace of Towanda IL, and LeeAnne (Brandon) Mehling of Nampa; grandsons David (Jenny) Pace of Bloomington IL, Philip (Minna) Pace of Highland Park IL, and Justin (Kara) Minor of Caldwell; and eight great grandchildren.
Her final service at Lakeview Church of The Nazarene will be at 2:00pm, September 22, in Nampa. The family welcomes visitors at the church beginning at 1:00pm, with interment following at Kohlerlawn Cemetery.
