Emma Albertine (Stredder) Kindelberger-Prest

Emma Albertine Stredder-Kindelberger-Prest, just shy of her 96th birthday, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, August 25, 2017 at Spring Creek Care Center in Boise. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother.

Emma was born on October 22, 1921 in Hailey, Idaho to Frederick and Amelia Stredder. She was the youngest of five children who all preceded her in death. They were Everett, Alvin, Roy, Sister Lera Pierce and Aunt Belva Riggs.

After her mother’s death at the age of two, she and her dog Peggy went to live with her Aunt and Uncle John and Flora Stredder in Weiser and later in Nampa. She also attended Homedale High School.

Emma attended cosmetology college until meeting and marrying 2nd Lt. Lewis James Kindelberger in September on 1941 in Weiser, Idaho. He shipped out by train the very next day at the start of WWII.

Emma worked for 73 years as a cosmetologist in Kuna and Caldwell and then in Meridian. She worked at Carroll’s before opening Marge and Emily’s in Boise with Marge Elliott. She then moved to Broadway and opened Broadway Beauty with Nellie Smith. She also moved on to Fruitland, ID and opened a shop in her home before moving back to Boise. She worked well into her 80’s doing her “ladies” hair. Emma was a member of the National Hairdresser’s Association, the Idaho Cosmetology Association Assistant Chairman in 1952 and Styles Director in 1962 and 1963. She won a number of awards and competitions for her work.

She also worked as a Boise Police Volunteer for a number of years and loved it. She was the proud Mother of a law enforcement family and everyone knew it.

She is survived by her first born son, Lewis James “Jim” Kindelberger, Jr. and wife Judy; and his children, Kelly Kindelberger and wife, Pam and Christopher Kindelberger and wife, Heather with three great grandchildren, Kierra, Scotty and Liam.

She is also survived by her youngest son, Harry Prince Kindelberger and wife Deborah, their children, Rachel Smitcher and her sons, Jordon and Jake; Janaan Van Zante and husband, James; Joshua Kindelberger and wife Estelle with Ian and Esme; Jason Kindelberger and wife Lisa with Nathan, Levi and Abby; Bryan Kindelberger and wife Tiffany with Luke; and Harry Brandon Kindelberger and wife Anna with Didier.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Lewis James Kindelberger, Sr. and Delbert Prest.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 4, 2017 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
