Our precious mother, Eva Arias, went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2017 at the age of 96. She was born Eva Arce on November 8, 1920 in Cerralvo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico daughter of Gregorio and Gertrudes Arce. Her family consisted of her father, mother, older sister Luz, and two brothers who died in infancy. Her family brought her to the United States when she was a baby and she lived here the rest of her days. They lived part time in San Juan, Texas where she tended to her father's livestock as a girl and on through adulthood. She had a love for animals and always enjoyed having pets; especially cats. As a young girl, she had a “pet” chicken who followed her everywhere she went. The chicken was so attached to Eva, she would even bring her baby chicks to rest in her lap. Her hobbies included playing the harmonica, making tissue paper flowers, drawing, and eating sweets. She met her husband, Epigmenio Arias in 1954 and they had three children together, Carlos, Lamberto, and Eva Arias. In 1960, her family became migrant farm workers and traveled to Idaho annually, as well as other western states where they would work in the fields. She would rise early before anyone else to prepare food for her husband and children, work all day in the fields, and then come home to clean, cook, and get ready for the next day all over again. She was a dedicated, faithful wife and mother. She was gentle, kind; caring for her elderly parents at home in the last days of their lives as well as her husband at the end of his. She was raised Catholic, and in 1978 she was baptized in the name of Jesus, serving the Lord with great passion and zeal. She often got lost in worship during Sunday Service where she would dance and sing, arms raised in the air. She stood firm in bulletproof faith, even through the severe dementia of her last years. She was preceded in death by her husband, her siblings, and her daughter Eva. She is survived by her two sons, Carlos and Lamberto, six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She will be missed by her friends and family but our loss is heaven's gain. Today we remember and honor Eva Arce Arias and the legacy of love she left behind.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Valley Church in Caldwell. A viewing will be held preceding the services. Burial will follow in the Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa. Arrangements are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com
