Lea and all the family,
We are saddened that your husband, father and family member is no longer present here on earth. He has been a rock to College Church and to many who have followed in his footsteps honoring God, the Word, and his commitment to Christ's Church. The ripple effect of his life choices will splash shores both near and distant for a long time to come. We pray God's comfort as you miss him, even as you are assured of his presence in heaven.

I remember well the dinner at Outback with the Clarks and Edelmans the night of my interview for pastor position at CCN in 2000. Gene was always a faithful board member ,church treasure and a strong supporter of his pastor. Thank you Gene for the model of a great churchman. Most of all recall the many mornings arriving at the office to discover his old beat up station wagon in the church lot because he was there praying.

Gene, you will be missed. I remember as a youngster you driving down the lane so very early in the morning and later as an adult, I counted on you to be my alarm clock, I doubt you ever knew that. YOU were the epitome of a Christian man. You were respected by me and admired. You were the same each time I saw you or we spoke. Always, kind, considerate, YOU CARED about what I had to say, you knew how to LISTEN. I wished now, that I had known you as a younger person. RIP Sir, you have EARNED your "well done my good and faithful servant".

My sincere condolences to the entire Clark Family. Gene was a mentor and a friend of mine for the past 30+ years in the construction industry. His sage counsel, unwavering faith, leadership and values will be missed. I will treasure every memory of the long conversations we had over the years and the many stories he shared with me. Like my own Father, Gene understood that a good business relationship started with a strong friendship, one that I cherished. God speed my friend, I will miss you.

I remember Gene from my college years seeing him in his Thunderbird car which was outstanding. I teased him about letting me drive it. I wish blessings on Lea and family and also Myrna Willard, one of my college classmates. The Lord bless and keep the family in His love.

Gene was a great older cousin, taking a young high school sophomore (me) under his wing for the summer I spent in Nampa with our aunt & uncle, Wally & Eilene Swann. He was gentle with his young cousin and helped provide a summer in 1959 of growing up for me! Heaven is richer today and is just another reason to make heaven our home.
