Janet Kay (Luithle) Mendenhall

Janet Kay Mendenhall, 73, of Nampa, went to Heaven on Sept. 27, 2017. Her favorite verse was John 3:16, which reads: “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son. Anyone who believes in him will not die but will have eternal life.”

            Janet was born in Seattle, WA Oct. 9, 1943. She became a Christian at a Bible camp and moved to Idaho to attend NNC for one year. She met her first husband and then returned to Seattle for nurses training. She married Lloyd Hankins of Emmett on June 10, 1966, practiced nursing and supported her husband in his work in the pastorate and later in children's ministries in the Church of the Nazarene. After her 1st husband died, she continued to enjoy her grandchildren. Then God had a surprise for her.  She was married a second time on May 1, 2010 to Ray Mendenhall of Nampa. She enjoyed even more children and their families and supported her new husband in his Christian ministries in Canyon County Detention facilities.

             Janet is survived by her second husband, Ray Mendenhall; 2 daughters, Patty Hankins and Barbie (Enrique) Quilantan, 3 sons Al (Amparo), Eric, and E. John (Jenny), 12 grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughters and one great-great-granddaughter. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a granddaughter and her 1st husband.

             A viewing will be held at Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So. – Nampa – 208-442-8171 from 5-7 pm on, Friday, Oct. 6. Her funeral will be at Nampa First Church of the Nazarene, 601 16th Ave. So. at 10 am on Sat. Oct. 7, with a graveside service afterwards at the Emmett Cemetery.
