Kathy was born July 23, 1950 in Barstow, California to Robert and Ada Ogden. At the age of 7, Kathy moved to Idaho with her mother where she lived until she was an adult. In 1972, she married James Shewmaker with whom she had 4 children.
In 1986, Kathy married Ronald Blickenstaff, her soulmate. Throughout their marriage Kathy helped work on the farm alongside Ron doing everything from changing water to driving beet trucks; however, her true passion was working with horses. From a young age she dreamed of one day having a pasture full of horses. In 1990, she began showing American Quarter horses. In the twenty years she spent showing, she and her horses earned many awards including three AQHA top 10’s. Her proudest moment was being awarded 3rd in performance halter at the AQHA World Show in 2008.
After a very long battle with cancer, Kathy passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday the 29th of December with her devoted husband and daughter-in-law, Mindy, by her side.
Kathy is survived by her husband Ron; her four children Elisha (Isak) Wilkenson, Brenda (Vernon) McDonald, Jeremy (Mindy) Shewmaker, and Kristine Shewmaker; also, two step children Doug (Merilee) Blickenstaff, Susan (David) Scheuerer; fifteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
