Welcome to the memorial page for

Larry A. Fowler

January 17, 1944 ~ August 19, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Larry A. Fowler was born January 17, 1944 to Henry & Edna Fowler in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the oldest of 3 boys, growing up & graduating from high school in Haltom City, Texas. Immediately after graduating, he joined the Air Force on June 22, 1962. He proudly served overseas in England, France, & Egypt, as well as stateside in Florida, Maryland, and (returning home) 2 bases in Texas. He retired with Honorable Discharge on December 1, 1986.

While stationed in Florida he met and married his wife Janet, who had two children that he loved as his own. They had one child together, making them a family of 5. Janet preceded him in death on December 30, 2012.

After retirement & re-entering civilian life in Texas, he took a job as a convenience store clerk. He was quickly promoted to manager. Next he transferred over to managing liquor stores where he discovered his love both of wine, and educating others about wine. He found many "wine buddies" over the years, enjoying tastings and dinners together.

In addition to wine, Larry loved eating good steaks, reading, watching television & taking his grandkids out on "dates". He was an outgoing yet private, caring yet ornery, liberal yet old-fashioned man and he was loved by a lot of people!

He is survived by his youngest brother Steve (Roberta) Fowler, daughter Heather (David) Joseph, step-daughter/daughter Linda Vickers, and estranged step-son Emmett Vickers; grandchildren Dustin (Shuwei) Vickers, Mark (Amy) Naue, Destanie Vickers, Samantha Johnson, Jamie Joseph, Robin Joseph, and Daniel Joseph; grandson-by-heart Mike (Lacee) Randolph; great-grandchildren Drake Vickers, Jeromey Vickers, Emma Vickers, & Julius Naue; and many, many beloved friends.

In lieu of flowers, he wanted donations to be made to one of his favorite charities, the Shriners Hospital for Children at https://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/
