Margaret Naomi Smith Snyder passed away October 27, 2018 at the age of 97 years old. Margaret was born May 18, 1921 in Allen, Nebraska to Cloyd and Viola (Roberts) Smith where she lived until she was 4 when the family moved to Central City, Nebraska. She attended the Central City Elementary School until moving to Greenleaf, ID in 1935, completing her 8th grade year at the Greenleaf Grade School. Later that summer, they moved back to Central City, then to Allen where she attended and graduated from the Allen High School.
Margaret married Vernon Snyder September 7, 1939. They farmed in the Allen area until December of 1950 when they moved with their three oldest children to Greenleaf, Idaho. Margaret worked at the Greenleaf Lockers and later with her husband purchased the meat plant and owned and operated it for a few years before selling it. She was a lifetime member of the Friends Church and attended the Greenleaf Friends Church since 1950, working with children in the Sunday School for many years. She was also involved in several other areas of Church work.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, her parents Cloyd and Viola Roberts Smith, her step mother Josephine Hyde Roberts Smith and her five siblings. She is survived by her two daughters, Viola Mae Roberts of Twin Falls, ID, Patricia Birch of Caldwell, ID, two sons, Daniel (Cyndi) Snyder of Greenleaf, Herald (Teri) Snyder of LaHabra, CA, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
There will be a viewing at the Nampa Funeral Chapel, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. in Nampa, ID on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 5:00 -7:00 pm.
A Burial Service will be held Sunday, November 18, 2019 at 2:00 at the Greenleaf Cemetery with a Memorial Service following at 3:00 at the Greenleaf Friends Church.
Memorials may be given to the Greenleaf Friends Church or the Greenleaf Historical Society.
