Mona Martin Obituary

Mona Rae Martin

April 14, 1927 – July 17, 2018

Heaven got an angel “Micki” on July 17th, 2018.  Micki arrived in this world on April 14th, 1927 to Gordon and Hazel Burris landing in Kelso, Washington.  She moved to Nampa when she was 3 years of age, this is where her mom Hazel met and married Oscar Clement.  Oscar adopted Micki and was the best father anyone could have.  Oscar meant the world to her he was her shining star.  Micki graduated from Nampa High School in 1945 and after a short stint at Albertson’s college, Micki met the love of her life Don Martin and they were married on November 3, 1946.  They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary a year prior to Don’s passing in July 2012.

Mom’s first love through her entire life was her family.  She also enjoyed canning, making jam, cooking, knitting, reading and her beautiful back yard.  She volunteered most of her life at Mercy Medical Center in the Cameo Suite, Auxiliary Board and the Gift shop.  She especially enjoyed her group of close friends for many years and their “sewing club.  She became an avid Boise State football fan much later in life which was just a hoot to listen to her talk about the coach and players.  Mom’s sense of humor was delightful.

She is survived by her children, Jon (Debbie) Martin, Julie Martin, Teri (Scott) Clowdus and David Martin, five grandchildren, Katie, Jon, Jodi, Tiffany and Shelley and eight great grandchildren, Sophia Don, Brody, Olivia, Gavin, Taylor, Kylee, Kayla and Dylan.  She was preceded in death by her daughter Diane Martin and her husband Don Martin.   In lieu of memorial donations hug your mom.

A private family memorial will be held on September 7th, 2018.  Nampa Funeral Home Yraguen Chapel is caring for the family and there is an online guest book that can be signed at www.nampafuneralhome.com.

She will be greatly missed and thought of often.  Thanks for loving us mom we were so lucky.
