Paul Allen Martin was born on December 4, 1955 to Stanley & Etta Jean Martin of Anaheim, Ca. He had an older sister, Pam, and an older brother, Bruce Martin. His formative years were spent in Anaheim where he attended Patrick Henry, Thomas Edison, Sycamore Jr. High and Anaheim High School. He was extremely active, curious, and a risk taker which prompted his mother to always have a good supply of First Aid items on hand! He was creative and fostered a spirit of fun wherever he went. He loved people, animals, fireworks, & Disneyland. For 49 years he attended and had his faith in Jesus Christ nurtured at Anaheim First Nazarene Church. As a young teenager he worked at Taco Bell, and then at Darnell Caster Co.
In February, 1974, at 18 years of age, Paul had a life altering motorcycle accident that defined his physical & mental limits for the rest of his days. It did not, however, change the essence of who he was nor defeat his positive spirit. For the next 45 years Paul was a living demonstration of “Yahweh Yireh”…God provides. He was the recipient of exceptional daily, devoted, loving care from his parents who made every effort to provide him with as full a life as possible. They were supported by his brother, Bruce, and a host of friends, health professionals, & aides. Paul became a skilled adapter, had a child-like trust, and a courageous heart.
In 2004, after the passing of his mother, Paul, & his father, Stan, moved to Nampa, Idaho, where they lived for the past 15 years with sister, Pam & brother in law, Wally Pentecost. Paul enjoyed being with extended family, eating tacos & cheeseburgers, watching the Disney channel & going to movies. He was a part of the Bethel Nazarene and Crossroads Community church families. Being out in the community brought him joy & he had special friends wherever he went. For the last 2 months of his life, Paul lived & was cared for at Cascadia of Nampa care facility where in the midst of declining health, he had a whole new circle of friends & caregivers.
On January 3, 2020, at the age of 64, surrounded by family, Paul Martin went to be with his Lord Jesus. He is survived by brother Bruce Martin, of Anaheim, Ca., sister Pam (Wally) Pentecost, of Nampa, Id, nephews Craig (Tyrenda) Pentecost of Tracy, Ca., Curt (KayLynn) Pentecost, of Nampa, Id, and Kyle Pentecost of Yakima, Wa., grandnephew Todd Beatty, & grandnieces, Brenna & Libby Pentecost. He is already incredibly missed and we give heartfelt thanksgiving to God for the unique contributions and lessons of love from Paul’s life.
