Richard L. Canderan

Richard L. Canderan of Nampa passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 20, 2019 after a courageous battle with brain tumor at the age of 73.

Richard was born on January 13, 1946 to Naomi and Charles Canderan in Brownsville, Pennsylvania.  The family then moved to Hillside, Maryland where he graduated from Central High School in 1964.  He served in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1971.  He married Jo Ann B. Formento on May 30, 1970.  After they were married, they moved to Wichita, Kansas where he received a degree in electrical engineering from Wichita State University in 1974.  They then moved to Boise in 1974 where he started working for Idaho Power Company.  He retired in March of 2008.  

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Boise, the Italian American Club of Boise and the Boise Bocce League.  They made many trips to Italy and spent many winters in Naples, Florida.  He enjoyed working with wood in his shop.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; his sister Gina; cousins Dr. Robert (Antoinette) Fagioletti and Dr. Ronald DiDomenico; Sister-in-laws Phyllis Bogard and Colleen (Larry) Moore; along with many cousins, nieces and nephew.  He was preceded in death by his parents and many uncles and aunts.

A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 7. 2019 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2612 W. State St., Boise, Idaho 83702. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 P.M. at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Nampa. Arrangements are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
