On September 11,2018, Our Lord and Savior called Robert “Hunchy” Gonzales to his eternal home.
Robert was born Feb. 3, 1946 to Eva and Esteban “Chacho” Gonzales in Pharr, Texas. Later that year the family moved to Aberdeen, Idaho before moving to Nampa in 1947 where they made their home and Robert attended school. Robert worked for Union Pacific from 1972 until he retired, he also opened and ran his own auto body shop for a while, painting cars was something he really enjoyed.
Robert was an outgoing person who was always willing to try new things therefore he made many life long friends who he enjoyed hanging out with. He also enjoyed playing pool and golf. He loved joking around and giving his nieces and nephews a hard time by always saying “I’m not your mom, I’m not your dad, I’m your Uncle Robert” before a lecture.
Robert is survived by his wife Diana, his mother Eva, his children; Santana Mia, Kodi Rico, Nicholas and Jordan, his brother Marcelino, his sisters Angelica and Rachel and his grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins, who are left with great and cherished memories. He is preceded in death by hi father Esteban (Chacho) and his nephews; Adam and Daniel Barela.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa.
