Ruby Mae Kennedy, 91, of Meridian, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Nampa, Idaho with family by her side. Ruby was born on August 13, 1926 to Clyde Forrest and Cera Ridgway in Crawford, Oklahoma. She was the fifth of eight children born.
Ruby married William Kirk Kennedy on February 24, 1944 in Tonopah, Nevada during a snow storm. Together they had eight wonderful children.
She was a hard worker both at home and at her job. She retired after 20 years as a cabinet assembler for Broadmore/Fleetwood Homes of Idaho. Some of Ruby’s favorite pastimes included yard work, flowers, gardening, canning, crocheting, softball games, vacations to the coast, camping, fishing and especially loving on her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children and spouses, Jean Darr, Carol and Larry Detweiler, Sarah and Dave Parker, Bill and Polly Kennedy, Otto Kennedy, Berto and Julie Kennedy and Frank and Krystina Kennedy. Ruby also left behind her younger sister Virgie Jean Ridgway Miller; 20 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, six of her siblings, her husband and one daughter Vickie Lee Berry.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A luncheon will be provided for all family and friends following the service on Thursday at the Bowmont Community Church. The family will greet friends and family at a visitation and viewing on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Nampa Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
