Afton Wilde Obituary Afton Wilde, 95, of Nampa went to be with her Lord on the morning of October 25, 2024. Afton was born February 5, 1929, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, the fifth of eight children of Cecil Smith and Ada (Bergstrom) Smith. She lived in Minnesota most of her grade school age years and then moved to Nampa, Idaho on October 12, 1942 with her family. She graduated high school from Northwest Nazarene Academy in 1946. She was introduced by family members to Carl Wilde whom she married on December 21, 1948 in Tacoma, Washington. To that union was born four children, two boys and two girls: Kenneth (Connie) Wilde of Eagle; Janice Wilde of Nampa; Cheryl (Larry) Byrd of Emmett; and Ronald (Deanna) Wilde of Nampa. Afton and Carl spent forty years as Pastors for the Church of the Nazarene. They pastored churches in Woodland, Bingen, Sunnyside, Kent, and Covington, Washington. In addition they pastored in Gooding, Idaho and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They retired in 1989 and then moved to Nampa in 1991 where they resided ever since. Both Carl and Afton were active in Bethel Nazarene Church serving for a time as Visitation Pastors. Afton was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, and by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, one sister Lila Pemble (Rev. Al Pemble), one sister-in-law, MaryEllen Smith, one brother-in-law, Jack Weaver, and many nephews and nieces. A Funeral Service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 8, 2024 at the Bethel Church of the Nazarene, 3001 12th Ave. Rd. in Nampa. A private burial will be held on Tuesday November 12, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise.
