Obituary

Alice Ruth Cleveland, known fondly as Ruth, was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee, on May 30, 1938, and passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family. The daughter of John William Timmons and Mary Sue Reeves, she grew up alongside her brothers—Fred, Carl, LeRoy, and Beacham—and sisters Nancy, Joyce, Dorothy, and Ann in a home filled with laughter and resilience.

On August 31, 1955, Ruth married her lifelong partner, Donald Edward Cleveland. Their marriage thrived for nearly four decades until Donald's passing in 1994—anchored in a love and devotion that remained steadfast until her final days.

Over the years, Ruth built a life across Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, Germany, and Idaho—carrying her warmth and grace wherever she went. She thrived in the company of others, bringing joy and connection to all who knew her. Her overflowing compassion helped many—from David Brasel, whom she raised as her own, to family members navigating life's hardest moments. Her mark on the world is undeniable, and the lives she touched are richer for having known her.

Ruth had a vivacious spirit. She loved working with people, sharing stories, drinks, and laughter in every interaction. She found excitement in the thrill of casinos and was captivated by the mystery of cruises and curious tales. But perhaps most memorably, she danced—whenever and wherever she could—expressing joy, freedom, and a love for life.

Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Lewis; grandchildren Don and Kristen McDaniel, Cassie Lewis, Tyler Lewis, and Austin Farnworth; great-grandchildren Jazmin McDaniel, Zakery McDaniel, Seth McDaniel, Memphis Farnworth, and Madison Farnworth; great-great-grandchildren Nariah, Roman, Nova, Jordenn, Jaxtenn, and Jamisonn; daughters-in-law Joanna Rich and Renae Lackey; and son-in-law Neal Farnworth. She was preceded in death by her daughter Donna Cleveland and grandson Brian McDaniel—both dearly missed, forever cherished in her heart.

Ruth's life was a tapestry of adventure, laughter, and love—woven with courage and an infectious joy that will continue to ripple through generations. She lived by the belief that laughter heals, family anchors, and kindness multiplies.

Though she has passed, her legacy dances on in every shared memory and every heart she held close.

A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at Kickback Bar, 3116 Garrity Blvd, Nampa, Idaho, where loved ones will gather to honor the vibrant spirit of a woman never to be forgotten.
