Obituary

Ann Greenfield, 90, of Melba, Idaho, passed away at home on November 4, 2011. Ann was born on March 17, 1921. She grew up on the family farm where she learned the value of a strong work ethicwhich she held her whole life. She attended Melba schools where she played basketball and softball. After graduation from Melba High School, Ann attended Lewis & Clark Normal School to study education. She obtained a teaching certificate and was a teacher at Parma, Melmont, and Melba schools.

Ann married Ellis Greenfield on January 30, 1949. Ann worked with Ellis on the dairy farm and reared four children while helping with the extended family. She was a caretaker for her parents. In addition, Ann was a member of the Mary Jane Homemaker Club, a 4-H Leader, and a member of the Divin-Sloneker Legion Auxiliary. She was an accomplished seamstress, a gardener, an extraordinary cook, and an eloquent writer. She loved dancing, softball, and a good pinochle game. Ann hosted many family events and made her home and the farm a welcome place for friends and family to gather. She remained active with farm chores until poor health prevented her to help.

Ann is preceded in death by parents Johannes and Maria Kannegaard; siblings Axel, Joseph, and Karen; her husband, Ellis Greenfield; and her grandson, Kelly Schuetz. She is survived by her children, Melanie (Dale) White of Nampa, Kurt (Kerry) Greenfield of Bowmont, Scott (ZoeAnn) Greenfield of Melba, and Chris (Tony) Greenfield-Pastro of Fairbanks, AK; sister-in law Jean Greenfield and brother-in law Vic (Gwen) Greenfield; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A potluck dinner will be held at the Melba Senior Center on Friday, November 11th at noon to celebrate Anns life. In lieu of flowers, Ann requested that donations be made to the Melba Quick Response Unit. Arrangements are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
