Arvid Kreps Obituary Arvid Reiner Kreps, 90, went Home to be with the Lord Jesus on January 29, 2025. A Celebration of Life Service will be celebrated at 2 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Canyon Hill Church of the Nazarene, 903 N. Michigan Ave. in Caldwell. Romans 8:28 NIV Arvid was born February 8, 1934, on the family farm, Ennis Dairy, in Greeley, Colorado. At the age of 11, his family moved on faith to Nampa, Idaho, so he and his siblings could attend Northwest Nazarene College. Arvid graduated from Nampa High School. He met his wife of 70 years at Kurtz Park, where he enjoyed playing fast pitch softball in city leagues in Nampa. He later married Pearl at College Church of the Nazarene in Nampa. Arvid joined the United States Army, being stationed in California during the Korean War. He then returned to Nampa to attend Northwest Nazarene College, earning his bachelors degree. Arvid began his teaching career in Marsing, Idaho. He then accepted a position teaching business classes at Nampa Christian High School. Arvid and Pearl then moved their family to Troy, Idaho where he taught business and coached basketball. Arvid attended University of Idaho where he earned his Masters Degree. Arvid and Pearl then moved their family to Colville, Washington, where their family of eight lived in an 18 travel trailer behind Colville Church of the Nazarene until their house was built. Arvid taught business at Kettle Falls, Washington. He also coached many sports there. As head coach of the KFHS Bulldogs varsity basketball team, his team earned the honor of going to state championship. He also became Sports Director at Kettle Falls High School. While being a member of Colville Church of the Nazarene, Arvid was a dedicated Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Song Leader, and Choir Director. Arvid and Pearl moved their family to Caldwell, Idaho so all of their children could attend Nampa Christian Schools. Arvid accepted a position at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario. Over the years, Arvid remained deeply involved at Canyon Hill Church of the Nazarene and Ontario Church of the Nazarene. Arvid taught Sunday School up into his 80s. After retiring from teaching, Arvid and Pearl worked at Victory Cove Nazarene Church Camp for many years. Arvid served as caretaker and handyman, making many improvements to the aging grounds, while Pearl cooked for the many camps. They were also very instrumental in the start up of the new Trinity Pines Camp and Conference Center for the Intermountain District of the Nazarene Church in Cascade, Idaho. There is a memorial prayer garden placed in their honor there. Arvid is survived by his wife Pearl Kreps, nee Tromburg and his children Rhonda (Warren) Lasley, Cheryl (Frank) Morgan, Valerie (Hugh) Gavin, Kevin (Janet) Kreps, Dana Lewis, Melinda (Bob) Rose. He was a beloved grandfather to 29 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren, all of whom he loved and prayed for daily. He is also survived by many in-laws, nephews and nieces. Arvid was preceded in death by his parents, Reiner and Clara Kreps, his sister, Eula Dunn; his brother, Harold Kreps and a son-in-law, Tony Ritacco. Also many in-laws. The family suggest that memorial contributions be made to Trinity Pines Camp and Conference Center, 55 SW 5th Ave Suite 100, Meridian, Idaho 83642.
