Barbara Craven Obituary With great sadness, we announce Barbara (Tiegs) Cravens passing on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 87. She was at peace in her home in Nampa with her daughter Karrie by her side. Barbara was born on December 16, 1936 to Elmer and Lois (Grim) Tiegs.
Barbara led a life of quiet excellence. While rarely in the spotlight, her influence positively impacted hundreds of people throughout her lifetime.
Barbara grew up on a family farm and attended Nampa High School where she met her first love, Maurice Clements. She followed him to the University of Idaho, and it was in Moscow that they had their first son, Mark.
In 1956, Barbara returned to Nampa, where she spent the rest of her active, rich, and full life and where they had Kristin, Karrie, and Matthew. As a 4-H mom, she led a large and popular club where she planned elaborate horse-packing adventures. In 1983, she married her second husband, Howard Craven, in the chapel at Walters Ferry. Like most of her family, Barbara was a talented musician, and their wedding was a day filled with music performed by her daughters.
Later, she was equally dedicated to her role as a grandmother and was passionate about ensuring the family stayed close. She organized a yearly 4th of July Parade float, summer camping reunions, and frequent road trips to visit all of her grandchildren (usually with other grandchildren in tow). For over thirty years, she attended nearly every game, piano recital, play, dance competition, and 4-H show she could. She once said, "If I can support them through the bad times, I certainly want to be there for the good ones."
Other highlights from her life include her adventurous bike tours, famous holiday parties, impeccable seasonal decor, immaculate landscaping, and a ferocious commitment to digital scrapbooking. She will be missed but never forgotten as we carry forward the memories she helped us make and her many family traditions.
Barbara is survived by a multitude of family members whose lives were enriched by her presence. This includes her sister Bonnie Cunningham (Bill) and best friend and cousin Ladonna Cappellini, best friend Sandra Stimpson; children Karrie Holm (Chris), Matthew Clements (Linda), son-in-law Mike Kuehn, and daughter-in-law Cathy Clements; former husband Howard Craven; 10 grandchildren Mitch (Crystal), Michael, Aaron (Bree), Matthew, Patrick (Jessica), Brandon, Andy (Sarah), Kaity (Cody), Koley (Julie), Krissy, and 5 great-grandchildren Pennilane, Haze, Korbyn, Ashlin, and Deakon, as well as many friends and family members who all considered her "Grandma Barbara."
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Maurice Clements, and beloved children, Kristin (Clements) Kuehn and Mark Clements.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Nampa Funeral Home on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. Mountain Time. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com.
