Obituary

Barbara Hubbard Obituary Barbara Elaine Hubbard, age 89, passed away at a Boise hospital on September 30, and went to heaven to be with her Lord and Savior. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at Karcher Church of the Nazarenes Family Life Center gym at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 12. Private interment will be held later at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene, Oregon, where her ashes will be laid next to her husband, Bill, and her parents and grandparents. Barbara was born on April 27, 1935, in Davenport, Iowa, to Claude & Mildred Schmidt and was the older sister to brothers Gerald and Ron. She began school in Iowa, but the family moved to Nampa in 1944 and then to Oakridge, Oregon in 1948 where Barbara completed her high school years, graduating from Oakridge High School in 1954. Barbara always loved music and learned to play the piano. She received her own piano as a high school graduation gift from her parents. On June 25, 1954, she married the love of her life, Bill Hubbard. Together they had three children: David (1955), Ron (1958), and Shari (1961). In 1964, the family traveled to England to visit Bills family and birthplace. Barbara spent most of her life as a dedicated housewife and mother. For a few years she did odd cleaning jobs and, following her return move to Nampa in 1991, she babysat her grandchildren and operated a small daycare out of her home. She became a charter member of the Oakridge Church of the Nazarene in April of 1950 after her parents were instrumental in starting the church there. She served many years as a Sunday School teacher and the church organist in the Oakridge Church. Following a cholesteatoma ear surgery in 2004, Barbaras hearing continued to decline steadily until she was basically totally deaf. She developed dementia, causing her to withdraw socially and she stopped doing many things she had previously enjoyed. She continued to enjoy her family through everything though and prayed for each of them daily. She loved photography, scrapbooking, reading, traveling, and watching ice skating and The Price is Right. She is survived by her children; David (Sheryl) Hubbard of LaGrande, Oregon, Ron (Amy) Hubbard of Nampa, Shari (Vaughn) Warren of Nampa, seven grandchildren (Mandy Pilcher, Holly Hubbard, Jennifer Kelcey, Jaron Warren, Brandon Warren, Weston Warren, and Jonathan Hubbard), six great grandchildren, and a brother, Gerald Schmidt, of LaGrande, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987 and her brother Ron in 2008. Barbara had a sweet, kind and generous personality and a determined spirit. She was an amazing mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed! The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Karcher Church of the Nazarene, 2515 W. Karcher Rd., Nampa, ID 83651. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com Services Celebration of Life Saturday October 12, 2024 11:00 AM Karcher Church of the Nazarene
