Barbara Kennedy Judy passed away December 1, 2011 at the age of 73 surrounded by her family.
Born Barbara Rae Kennedy December 25th, 1937 to Thelma Louise (Harris) Kennedy and William Robert Kennedy in Spokane, Washington, she moved with her family to Boise in 1953 and graduated from Boise High School in 1955 with highest honors. She married Harold Robert (Bob) Judy and had four children (and spouses). Pam Judy Dooms (Darwin), Lauri Judy Bauer (Jim), Robert Bret Judy (Pam) and Vicki Judy White (Eric). Lovingly know as "Nana", she had eight grandchildren (and spouses), Cortney Dooms Turner (Kip Turner), Travis White (Lucie White), Samantha White, Britney Judy Barton (Kyle Barton), Brooke Judy Fowler (Brett Fowler), Brack Judy, Shea Bauer and Sara Bauer. Nana also had one great granddaughter, Sophie Rae Turner.
Barbara worked for the Garden Valley and Meridian School Districts as a School Secretary retiring in 2003. She had a great love for music and the arts. Barbara had the voice of an angel and was an active member of the Master Chorale and served on the Board of Directors. She also was on the Board of Directors for the Dance Theatre. Mom truly enjoyed sewing, cooking and reading. However, her greatest love was her family and following their many activities particularly as "Nana" attending sporting events and school functions with brownies for the team in hand. A special and honorable time in Moms life was when she donated a kidney to her brother in 1976. She was the 13thkidney donor in the United States.
Barbara is survived by her children and the father of her four children, Harold Robert (Bob) Judy, her mother Thelma Kennedy, two sisters Gail Kennedy Abbott (Art Abbott), Connie Kennedy Hepner (Bruce Hepner) and a sister-in-law Evelyn Kennedy as well as several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, William Robert Kennedy and her brother Robert William (Bill) Kennedy.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the Meridian Hearts for Hospice, particularly Jessie and Brittany for their compassion and care for Mom and the family.
A memorial service celebrating Barbaras life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 16, 2011 at Nampa Funeral Chapel Yraguen Chapel.
