Barbara Joy Clements Oberst, age 79, died on January 13, 2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident outside of Marsing, Idaho.

Barbara was born in Nampa, Idaho on May 25, 1931 to Richard and Hazel Clements. She graduated from Nampa High School and attended the College of Idaho. She married Ralph William Oberst at St. Paul's Catholic Church, in Nampa, Idaho, on June 2, 1951. They would have been married 60 years this June. Barbara went back to school while raising five children and attained her Bachelor's Degree in teaching. She taught fourth grade at Franklin Elementary School in Boise, Idaho, for 18 years. After retirement Ralph and Barbara moved from Boise to Givens Hot Springs, Idaho, to join a community of airplane enthusiasts.

Barbara was an avid seamstress and quilter. She made quilts for the new babies in the family, for special occasions and for charity. Barbara also loved to read. She was an accomplished pianist and played for church services at Sacred Heart in Boise and St. Joseph's in Melba. She was a member of the Owyhee County Sage Hens and St. Joseph's Parish in Melba, Idaho. Barbara was always willing to give her time to help others. Barbara devoted the last three and one-half years of her life to caring for her husband after he suffered a stroke.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Marjorie Evans and Jeanette Kennedy, her brothers Keith Clements and Ralph Clements, a son Richard William and a granddaughter, Christina Marie Buchanan. She is survived by her husband, her daughters Julie (Kurt) Wiles, Janet Buchanan, sons Kelly, Michael and John Oberst, grandchildren, Lara Wiles, Matthew Amos Buchanan, Michael Joseph Buchanan, Veronica Rose Oberst and Kelly Michael Oberst.

The family recommends donations be made in Barbara's name to Project Haiti, c/o St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, 1055 N. Curtis Road, Boise, Idaho 83706 (www.saintalphonsus.org) through the St. Alphonsus Foundation.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 504 Randolph Road, Melba, Idaho with graveside services following at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa, Idaho. Services are under the direction of the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel.
