Betty Jane Stoops was born in Burr Oak, KS to Ruth Christine Dillon and Fred Dillon on May 20, 1923. She passed away peacefully March 26, 2017. She had 4 siblings; James Lloyd, Opal Belle, Juanita & Lyle. She was raised and attended school in Burr Oak until her mothers death in 1936 when her father moved the family to Idaho, where she finished high school. Her father married Alice Hutchison after the death of her mother, to which was added a sister, JoAnn Hutchison.
She attended NNC, where she met her husband George N. Stoops. After they married he joined the Army, so she lived in different places until his discharge. She did miscellaneous jobs but enjoyed her work at the telephone company as an operator, the most.
She had their first daughter, Judy in 1949 and she became a "stay at home mom" until the other 2 girls, Georganna and Connie were going to school. She then did some secretarial work at Barger Mattson for 13 years.
She was known for her great hospitality and cooking. Her "Aunt Betty" cake was well known within the family. She was very active in her church and her faith meant everything to her.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Lyle & James Lloyd; 2 sisters, Juanita, Opal; and her mother Ruth.
She is survived by her husband George of 73 years; a daughter Judy Rice of Caldwell, a daughter Georganna (Jim) Bower of Nampa and daughter Connie (Terry) Rogers of McCall; her sister JoAnn Wilcox and her husband Roger; 4 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Flowers may be sent or memorials to Bethel Nazarene Church or Love Inc. The family wishes to thank the extremely caring staff at Streamside Assisted Living; also the staff and nurses from Heart N Home Hospice went to great lengths to make our mother comfortable; and Cindy for her kindness and sitting with mom during her final hours.
