Obituary

Bob Bowen Obituary Bob's life journey began in a doctor's office Friday, October 13, 1944 in Oilton, Oklahoma. His parents, Jerry and Jean were so anxious they forgot to get a birth certificate. It wasn't until his 50th birthday he obtained his birth certificate. Six weeks later his parents, older sister Beverly and Bob were on their way to Toledo, Oregon for a new life and adventure. Bob was very adventurous while growing up. He drove the hearse for a local mortician to name one. He later joined the Navy and received an honorable discharge in 1966. While in the Navy he served two years in Vietnam. Bob had a variety of professions during his life; dance instructor, service station manager, mechanic, bartender, cowboy, auto parts manager, horse shoer (he went to school to learn corrective shoeing as well), long haul truck driver (over 1,000,000 miles), and finally construction truck driver with Thueson Construction. Bob lived by this motto: Any job worth doing deserved to be done well. On July 31, 1984 Bob married the love of his life, Julia Phillips. Shortly afterwards he adopted her son Ken, and their family was complete. A more loving and devoted husband and father could not be asked for. Bob enjoyed anything done outdoors. From hunting in the Owyhees, camping and fishing at Deadwood Reservoir to just exploring the state with his wife Julia. Bob's second love was riding his Harley. He took several cross country trips every summer. He was meticulous about keeping his bike clean and making the chrome shine. Bob's last experience was when he contracted COVID. He fought every day and never gave up. He passed away quietly Monday, January 11, 2021 at the age of 76 with his family by his side. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Julia; Sons Terry (Yvonne) of Kansas City, Missouri and Ken Bowen of Meridian, Idaho; Grandchildren Melissa, Salina, Tim, Madeline, and Isabelle; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Beverly, brother Tom, daughter Salina, and son Bob, Jr. from a previous marriage. A private burial will be held at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Following Covid restrictions, a celebration of his life will be announced at a later date Services Services are to be announced
