Obituary

Charles Wayne Dawson, known by everyone as Wayne, died March 12, 2014 from complications of Alzheimer's. He was 75 years old. Wayne was born May 7, 1938 and was the only child of Ben and Elva Dawson of Caldwell. He moved to many places in his life. One highlight was the time he spent in the Navy at Pearl Harbor in the late 1950's. He returned from the Navy to marry his high school sweetheart Elna, whom he met while in the 7th grade in Susanville, California. His only son, Tim, was born while they were in San Luis Obispo, California, where Wayne attended Cal Poly. They lived in several places because of Wayne's career with BLM including Las Vegas, before returning to the Treasure Valley where Wayne worked as head of the supply warehouse for the Interagency Fire Center until his retirement in 1995. He also had a ranch in Kuna during that time where he and Elna raised Angus cattle. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elna; his son Tim; and his granddaughter, Monica. Wayne's wishes are for no services and we request any remembrances be donated to the Alzheimer's Association or XL Hospice of Nampa, who took such good care of him. We also want to thank the staff at The Cottages in Nampa for their excellent care of, not just of Wayne, but all of us. An online guest book may be signed at www.nampafuneralhome.com
