Carl Wilde, 93, of Nampa went to be with his Lord at his home on Monday, November 10, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Carl was born May 23, 1921, in Artesia, New Mexico, the fifth of eight children of Clarke J. Wilde and Margaret (Owen) Wilde. He moved to Oregon with his family in 1936 where he graduated from high school in Parkdale, Oregon. He spent 3 1/2 years in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed primarily in New Guinea. After returning to the states he attended Northwest Nazarene College and graduated in 1950. Carl married Afton Smith on December 21, 1948. To that union was born four children, two boys and two girls: Kenneth (Connie) of Eagle; Janice Wilde of Nampa; Cheryl (Larry) Byrd of Emmett; and Ronald (Deanna) of Nampa. Carl and Afton spent forty years in the ministry for the Church of the Nazarene. They pastored churches in Washington: Woodland, Bingen/White Salmon, Sunnyside, and Kent. In addition they pastored in Gooding, Idaho and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They retired in 1989 and moved to Nampa where they have resided ever since. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and five brothers. He is survived by his wife Afton, his four children and their spouses, nine grandchildren, six great-children, one great-great granddaughter, and one sister, Dorothy Smith of Bend, Oregon. A viewing will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. A funeral service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, Nov. 14, 2014 at the Bethel Church of the Nazarene, Nampa. Burial with military honors will be held on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise.
