Carol Jean Tiller

Carol Jean Tiller passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 3, 2026. She was 93 years old. Carol was born in 1932 in Rupert, Idaho to John and Beatrice Straubhaar. Carol was the second of five children. She attended school in Acequia, Idaho before moving to Nampa, Idaho in 1945 where she would spend the rest of her life.

Carol was active athletically in her high school years. She especially liked tumbling. She met Norman Tiller while in high school and they would marry in 1950. Norm and Carol would have four children, Andy, Dan, Tracy and Becky.

Carol being a very social person would become involved in community activities. She was a member of the First Congregational church in Nampa. She loved to sing and sang with the Majors and Minors choir. She enjoyed crafting and oil painting which she shared with her family and friends. Carol ushered for the Nampa Civic Center for many years. Norm and Carol were lifetime members of the Boise State University Pavillon enabling the family to attend every event held in the currently named Extra Mile Arena for over forty years. Of course there was bridge which she played well into her eighties. Carol was a wonderful skier both water and snow.

Norm and Carol discovered cruising and took multiple cruises taking them to the Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska and the Hawaiian Islands with family and friends. Carol enjoyed exploring Europe with her siblings discovering their roots.

Carol was the devoted caregiver for daughter Tracy for over 45 years. She willingly gave her love and time in caring for Tracy while still being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to the rest of her family.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lois Thorne, husband Norman Tiller and daughter Tracy Tiller. Carol is survived by her children Andy Tiller, Dan (LeAnn) Tiller and Becky Tiller; grandchildren Lyndsay (Brad) Soule, and Jake Tiller; and great-grandchildren Hayden Soule, Logan Soule and Landon Palmer; her siblings Jack (Shirley) Straubhaar, Nola (Dale) Stark, Joe (Sandy) Straubhaar and numerous nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 12, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Nampa Funeral Home, 415 12th Ave S., Nampa, followed by burial at Kohlerlawn, 76 6th St N, Nampa.

The family would like to graciously thank Carol’s caregiver for the past four years, Patty Estrada. Words fail to express the family’s gratitude. It was Patty’s loving care which resulted in her peaceful final years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations on Carol’s behalf be made to the Ronald McDonald house of Boise (https://rmhcidaho.donorsupport.co/page/donate) , and the Elks Rehab. (http://www.idahoelksrehab.org/)
