Carola Ann Manning, 63 of Nampa, formerly of Boise, ID passed away Monday evening.
Carol was born in Belen, NM to Seth & Juanita Manning. She moved with her family to Boise, ID in 1956 where she grew up and was later crowned Homecoming Queen and graduated from Meridian High School in 1970.
She married Tom Hedstrom in 1970 and their daughter Misty was born in 1972. With a passion for animals she worked at the Boise Public Zoo. She would frequently volunteer to bring home animals because they had been abandoned or needed 24hr care. Later she obtained a position as a hotel receptionist in the Owyhee Plaza Hotel downtown Boise where she met interesting and a few famous people performing in the Boise area.
She married Robert Sturgill in 1978 and their son Joshua was born in 1979. Carols life was spent caring for her children, going to church, fishing, camping, singing, playing tennis, family vacations, reading, watching movies, and just going, doing, living!
She loved children & reading, so working 18 years as a librarian for the Boise School District was a fulfilling career. The children at Maple Grove Elementary School loved to go to library time with Ms. Sturgill. She always went overboard decorating the library, dressing up and storytelling. She served as a president of the classified association for several years helping to create and implement new benefits. She later was given the challenge of bringing all the elementary school libraries into the modern age of computers. Going to each school, adding the books, students, and staff one-by-one into the computers database and applying barcodes to everything!
She was passionate about the holidays; always decorating the house, playing the ideal music, dressing for the occasion, & especially dancing and singing! She cherished the times spent with her entire family when they would all get together! Mom, dad, sisters, brother, in-laws, nieces and nephews: playing games around the dining table, laughing together. Later in life she was able to be a grandmother for a short time ensuring her memory will be passed on to the next generation.
With early onset frontal lobe dementia at the age of 50, Carol was slowly taken from this world before she could experience so many things. Were forever grateful for the time she was able to share with us. Carol also became a family member at First Nampa Christian Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and getting to know the Lord, Pastor Steve and those of the congregation. Carol was in a hurry to be born prematurely into this world by her parents, she couldnt wait for the next chapter in her life, on the move, in the car, going & going, and finally in death she hurried back into her Fathers arms. Im sure Carol will be the first one in heaven to greet you at the pearly gates when our lord and savior calls us home!
Carol is preceded in death by her father Seth Manning & mother Juanita Manning.
She is survived by her daughter Misty Lovato, son Joshua Sturgill, granddaughter Crystal Lovato and all her siblings; Bob (Sherry) Manning, Diana (Bruce) Shipley, Beverly (Preston) Kratz, Rhonda (Jim) Reed, ten nieces/nephews.
Special thanks to Streamsides Memory Care center staff, Heart and Home Hospice, and Jim & Rhonda Reed for taking such good care of our mother during her illness, God Bless!
