Carolyn Lorain Harrold, age 86, of Nampa, Idaho, went home to the Lord on December 19, 2025. The earth is a little darker today, but heaven is surely brighter.
A Viewing and Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-6 pm, January 2, at Nampa Funeral Home – Yraguen Chapel (415 12th Ave S, Nampa, Idaho), and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 3rd at Franklin Community Church (8499 Highway 20-26, Nampa) at 11:00 with reception following. Interment will be held on Monday, January 5th at 1:00 p.m. at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery (10100 N Horseshoe Bend Rd, Boise).
Carolyn was born on October 25, 1939, to Anne and Ellery Simineo in Grand Junction, Colorado. She grew up in Minturn, Colorado, a historic mountain town known for its mining history. Carolyn’s grandmother had a restaurant in Minturn where she would frequently enjoy hamburgers with her uncles. When she was five, the family moved to Ryderwood, Washington, and stayed for about a year, while her dad worked in the timber industry. In 1944, the family moved to Roswell, Idaho, to start farming. Carolyn went to Roswell grade school and then went to Parma and Middleton High School, where she graduated as valedictorian.
She attended the College of Idaho in Caldwell and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry. That same year, she married the love of her life, Max Harrold. Shortly after marrying they moved to Tacoma, Washington, where Max was stationed in the army. She continued her education at the General Hospital and received her Medic Tech degree. When Carolyn and Max returned to Nampa, she worked at the Treasure Valley Hospitals for 2 years, focusing on pesticide studies for the State of Idaho. This entailed drawing blood samples for testing to determine any impacts of crop dusting for farmers. Carolyn also worked at Mercy Hospital with Dr. Droulard as a Med Technologist.
Her main focus and passion in life was working on the family farm and raising her six children. She was actively involved in the community and held various roles in the PTA, including chairman; she was on the committee for Canyon County Planning & Zoning, as well as Treasure Valley Dairy Wives. When her parents reached an advanced age, she took care of them and during this time received her CNA certificate.
Carolyn enjoyed gardening, helping with church, reading, and was a horticulture enthusiast. She was in Bible Study Leadership and led groups for over a decade. She was also a 4-H leader and judge for over fifteen years. Carolyn always showed her love through food by cooking meals for family and friends. Additionally, she helped in the kitchen at church for many years.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Max, of 64 years; her children Cheryl Huerta (Neil Huerta), Cathleen Curtis (Mark Curtis), Christine Steckline (Greg Steckline), Margene Lunn (Josh Lunn), Maxine Schroeder (James Schroeder), Calvin Harrold (Kim Harrold), 14 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and brother.
The family of Carolyn Harrold wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Family Life Memory Care and Keystone Hospice for the care and love for Carolyn during her final days.
