Chester John Goodman, Jr. was born with a mechanic talent and intuition. He tinkered his way through life, touching countless lives along the way. In the afternoon of Sunday, March 8th, he completed his earthly journey with his sons surrounding him. John grew strong friendships wherever he went. His death was marked by an outpouring of love from his family and friends, each sharing stories of the incredible ways he touched their lives. John was born December 24, 1942 at Mercy Medical Center in Nampa, Idaho to Chester John Goodman, Sr. and Carol Lois Goodman. His father passed away when he was 10 years old. John and his brother Dennis lived with his grandparents, Van Walker Goodman and Anna Mary, who instilled a strong work ethic in him. In July 1962 he married Judy Hoppins in Nampa Idaho. They raised their three sons, Kevin, Johnny and Jeff, whom he loved spending time with. His boys loved camping, motorcycle riding, hunting and snowmobiling with him during his free time. Throughout his life he was a hard worker and could fix anything that was broken. John was an incredible motorcycle mechanic and worked for Honda of Caldwell for over 30 years. Even after he retired, people from throughout the county continued to bring him their motorcycles to be fixed. He built a family cabin in Garden Valley and dug the basement in his familys home by hand. John is survived by his children: Kevin, Johnny and Beth Goodman, Jeff and Honey Goodman, Dean and Bunny Goodnight and Dianna Goodman. His grandchildren: Jamie, Beau, Josh, Amanda, Brian, Blaine, Nathan, Toni and CJ. His great grandchildren: Shealee, James, Bailee and Taylor. His ex-wife Judy Prachyl, brother and sister in law, Dennis and Kathy Goodman and a sister, Myrna Smith. There will be a viewing at Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 12th. A Celebration of Life will be held at the home of Dennis and Kathy Goodman at 727 Arrowhead Drive in Nampa from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday March 13th.
