Obituary

Christine Carol Luque, 95, of Nampa passed away March 29, 2011 at a local hospital.

She was born December 25, 1915 in The Dalles, OR to Izora and William Stafford. She was the youngest of four children. Her family moved to the Bowmont area and her father passed away when she was five years old.

Christine graduated from Nampa High School in 1934 and three years later she married Frank Luque. They had a son, Joe, in 1939. Christine and Frank had various successful businesses in Nampa, including a butcher shop, a car lot, and various real estate holdings. Together, they built and operated the Cat and Fiddle Restaurant and also were part owners in the Kit Kat. They also built and remodeled many homes in the Nampa area. During this time they also went on trips to New York, Chicago, California and Europe. After an extended illness, Frank passed away in 1976. After Franks death, Christine wintered in Yuma, Arizona with her sister in law Gladys Messer. Together they cruised to Alaska and toured the Southern states, and visited Japan. She was an active volunteer at St Pauls Catholic Church and at Mercy Medical Center.

Christine was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was always ready and willing to lend a hand.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant children Carol Ann and Patrick James, two sisters and a brother.

Family members include her son Joe, her granddaughters Mollie (Jim) Lankford, Jill (Jeff) Hilton and six great grandchildren Sam, Hannah, Calli, Tyler, Mackenzie and Laura.

Grandma, you have taught us so much with your unconditional love and compassion. We will miss you.

A rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 4, 2011 at the St. Pauls Catholic Church, Nampa. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Nampa
